It takes over a repetitive movement, which helps consistency and saves the barista’s wrist. At 14 cm wide it fits next to most grinders. The force range of 10 to 35 kg covers common recipes; set it once per coffee and every barista uses the same value.

Pros and cons

Pros

Same tamping force for every barista, ±0.5 kg.

Force from 10 to 35 kg, two presets.

Fits all portafilters, including bottomless.

14 cm wide.

Cons

12.7 kg and needs a power socket (100 W).

Two presets: switch the preset when you change to a coffee with another tamping force.

Mazzer is a family company near Venice that has made professional coffee grinders and burrs since 1948, and specializes only in grinders and burrs.

Frequently asked questions

Which portafilters does it fit?
All baskets, including bottomless portafilters; the cup holder is removable and adjustable.

How much force can I set?
From 10 to 35 kg, in 1 kg steps (fast mode) or 0.5 kg steps (precise mode).

How big is it?
14 cm wide, 36 cm high, 12.7 kg.

What is the difference between the two modes?
Fast mode tamps once; precise mode tamps twice.
